Transitions
// if the functions (wasd, mouse, enter) aren't working, it probably means your mouse is outside of the play-screen, just press the play-screen with you left mouse button (and consider enabling full screen in the lower right corner:)
“Transitions” is the starting point for a game in the process of being made. The level appears more or less at the centre (geographically) of the game.
It’s an equalizer in the sense that it merges two distinctly different architectonic environments, it provides the change from one state to another. The player will pass through this the centre of the game several times.
I wanted to show this level as something existing, in its own right.
This specific piece has been tweaked for that purpose; the order of movement has been reversed and isolated from a larger narrative. In shaping this fragment, I thought of camera perspectives in virtual environments as something continuous and entangled, as opposed to them being tools and something invisible that reside outside of the environment, looking in.
It is also a mixture of story elements that are supposed to take place at different points in the finished game.
What follows is a description of a scene that is tested in “Transitions” without regards to plot-structure
Scene 3: Stand, Sit, Gone
“...Upon returning, the player is unable to get in contact with X who stands motionless where she had conjured the portal earlier. A few seconds pass, she sits down, ten seconds later she disappears…”
